VU starts its own Center for Entrepreneurship
On January 1st, 2017, the VU has opened its own Center for Entrepreneurship @ Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (CfE@VU).
CfE@VU hosts various unique activities in the field of entrepreneurship: Helpdesk for student entrepreneurs; VU Alumni Entrepreneurs; Educational activities (outside the traditional economics and business domains), and Entrepreneurship in Africa.
From 2008 to 2016, VU Amsterdam participated in the Amsterdam Center for Entrepreneurship (ACE), together with University of Amsterdam (UvA), Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, and Amsterdam University of the Arts. Although ACE's targets were achieved, there was still a clear need to present the university's unique activities in the context of entrepreneurship. CfE@VU was founded on January 1st, 2017 to address this need.
With this Center for Entrepreneurship, the VU remains a strong player in the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Amsterdam, although its scope is much broader. The founder-director of CfE@VU, Enno Masurel, expects a considerable growth of the center in the near future, both in activities and number of staff members: ‘The VU has proven to be very successful in entrepreneurship in the past and will do so in the future as well’.
